STOP SHRINKING BACK & STEP UP TO OWN YOUR LEGACY
I remember being mid-level in my marketing career, the only Black person on a marketing team of 30...and balling my eyes out on the phone with my dad.
"This just isn't for me"
"Maybe I should look into doing something different"
A few of the words I uttered on the phone, because the pressure of being Black, a woman, and a millennial was weighing heavy on me as I tried to perform in this white mans corporate world.
My dad said to me so effortlessly...
"Sweetie, no one has it together. Everyone is trying to figure it out as they go along. Own who you are, your ideas, & what you bring. Be confident in that"
Those words completely changed my life.
In that moment I realized....I was in that room for a reason.
I had that seat at the table for a reason & if I was going to turn it into something....I had to OWN IT.
I carried that same energy with me throughout my career.
When I left corporate, all God gave me was wifi & a dream.
He also gave me that lesson...& yet again if I was going to turn it into something......I had to OWN IT.
So whatever this is for.....you have that weight because you are strong enough to carry it.
Own who you are, your ideas, & what you bring to this world.
Put your stake in the ground & be confident in that.
You're here for a REASON and it’s time to own that reason….time to own your legacy.
It’s time to stop hiding behind your fears.
It’s time to stop over praying & asking for signs, about a vision God already gave you.
And, it’s time to stop pretending that you aren’t as powerful, excellent, brilliant, creative, necessary and anointed as you really are.
I know you’re full of potential and purpose, but we must really own that before we can birth something greater.
